Veterans Day

Since 2007, Fort Worth Country Day seventh graders have honored America's veterans through a student-led Veterans Day ceremony. For our 18th year we are excited to welcome veterans from all branches of the military to spend the morning of Veterans Day sharing their experiences with our Middle School advisories.

Please use our RSVP form to let us know you are coming.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the history of Veterans Day at FWCD?

In 2007 former Middle School faculty member Tara Forest created FWCD's Veterans Day celebration after hearing a statistic that America is losing her World War II veterans at a rate of 1,000 per day. She thought of her father's service during World War II and the Korean War and what it had meant to him and to her family, and began wondering if the Middle School could get enough veterans connected to the School community to come to campus and share their stories on a more personal level. Later, she envisioned the “Flag Arbor” down the sidewalk for the veterans to walk through. Over the years, the observance has evolved to include keynote speakers and the performing arts.
