November PFA Falcon Wings
FWCD’s Parent Faculty Association awarded Cherie White, Administrative Assistant in the Business Office, and Jamie Ringgenberg, Middle School Science Teacher, with the November Falcon Wings honor. Falcon Wings recognize PFA volunteers, FWCD teachers or staff who soar above and beyond the call of duty to enhance PFA programs or events or have improved the greater FWCD community by their dedication and enthusiasm.
Carrie Naylor McPadden, PFA Falcon Wings Chair, shared the announcement at the September 9 PFA meeting of the year.
Cherie White is the Administrative Assistant in the Business Office. She is so patient and helpful. She is in charge of ALL incoming mail for the School, approving all Amazon orders and coordinating with SAGE for billing. Her job is extremely behind the scenes, but the School is much more seamless because of her.
Cherie has been at FWCD for a little over 12 years now, and I could not imagine doing my job without her by my side. She is the type of person who will drop everything to help you get the task done and is also the one I can give something to without any instruction and know she can handle it. She is fun to work with, will frequently break out in song or goofy dance, and can always remember songs and movies, so don’t go against her in trivia games.
Jamie Ringgenberg has the heart of a servant and is a gracious and impactful educator. She has given countless hours to the development of the Middle School Robotics program. The program started with grades 7 and 8 but quickly expanded to the entire Middle School as the demand continued to grow. She comes in at 7 a.m. and leaves long after school is over, just so the kids can have practice time on the robots. She’s given up personal time on the weekends (away from her young family) to take kids to robotics competitions – even one that occurred late in her third trimester of pregnancy. She is an amazing Ropes Course Facilitator (and also led this group when she was nine months pregnant) and is an integral part of the Big Bend trip, helping to plan and implement the science project on the trip. As a teacher, she is tough – holding kids to a high standard and making them accountable for their actions. However, her tender heart shines through, and parents frequently comment that she seems to really “get” the kids and appreciate their unique individual characteristics. She is a great communicator and always comes up with creative academic experiences to enhance the learning in the classroom. She is one of the first to volunteer whenever there is a need … Jamie deserves a pair of Falcon Wings to match her angel wings!
