Falcon Alum Provides Insight for Student-Athletes
Reid Meyer ’12 spoke to FWCD students, parents and guardians at the April NCAA Night sponsored by the School’s College Counseling Office. Meyer is the Co-Founder and CEO of Austin-based Athletes to Athletes, a consulting company designed to assist high school student-athletes who wish to pursue college athletics. He shared his personal experience and how he chose Texas Tech University because it was the biggest program offering him a baseball scholarship.
Meyer was honest about the fact that baseball was not enough to make up for a poor fit academically and personally, so he transferred to Weatherford College. Over the course of his college career, he ended up attending four colleges in his four years and quit baseball halfway through college because of burnout and mental health struggles. Meyer ultimately earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and exercise science and a master’s degree in sport and fitness administration/management from The University of Texas at Austin.
Since 2016, Meyer has worked with student-athletes, as a coach, mentor and advisor. He ultimately founded the company that would eventually become Athletes to Athletes and began working with student-athletes all over the country in a formal capacity. The organization’s consulting services address the academic, athletic, social, and financial aspects of the student-athlete to help find their best college fit both on and off the fiel
