Kindergarten cowboys and cowgirls showered their stuff at the 56th FWCD K-Rodeo on Wednesday, April 16 for the Class of 2025 and the Lower School students, followed by a parent viewing on Thursday, April 17. Many alumni parents were part of that audience, reminiscing about their performances. View the slideshow.

This time-honored tradition allows FWCD’s kindergarteners, all 77 of them, to show their leadership skills as they dress up in western wear to perform a reenactment of the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. Riding stick horses, bouncing on bulls and dressing up as creative clowns, the Class of 2037 took over the Sid W. Richardson Round Gym for their performances. The History of the Kindergarten Rodeo.

This year’s rodeo was a little different with a new face playing the banjo, J Mack Slaughter ’02, during the grand entry. The show ended with the students singing “Deep in the Heart of Texas” and line dancing to “Achy Breaky Heart.”
