The 2022-23 Community Connections program, hosted by the Falcon Inclusion Team (FIT), started on Monday, September 12. In the hour-long event, attendees discussed why they chose FWCD, created a timeline about themselves and shared those with a partner to create a sense of connection and belonging. Community Connections events provide an opportunity for parents, guardians, faculty, and staff to gather together and engage in thoughtful dialogue or inspiring activities. FIT created these events to foster a greater sense of belonging for all members of the FWCD community.

“The Falcon Inclusion Team events provide a space for our community to come together and get to know one another on a deeper level,” said FIT member and Board of Trustee Secretary Mary Hallman Smith ‘03. “The more connections we facilitate among FWCD parents, faculty and staff, the more our community will feel like a family and our campus will feel like home.”

Community Connections began in November 2021 and are offered five times a year at the Martin Campus Center. Every event is one hour, includes refreshments, and is packed full of activities to bring every member of the FWCD community together. Mark your calendars for the following 2022-23 dates:

November 7: 2-3 p.m. | November 8: 6-7 p.m.

January 24 (Special MLK event): 6-7:30 p.m.

February 13: 2-3 p.m. or 6-7 p.m.

March 27: 2 p.m. | March 28: 6-7 p.m.

Approximately two weeks before the events, an invitation will be sent to the community with an RSVP. If two programs are offered during a month, you only need to RSVP for one, as they are both the same activity. If you have questions regarding Community Connections, email Nicole Masole, Director of Community Engagement and Inclusion.
