Carolina Zamorano ’25 was honored with the University of Vermont Citizen Scholar Book Award. The UVM Citizen Scholar Book Award celebrates high school students around the globe who demonstrate a spirit of citizenship and scholarship show are movers, shakers and change-makers in the world. Associate Director of College Counseling Sarah Casarez nominated her in the spring. Zamorano was recognized and celebrated by her peers and Upper School faculty and staff in April during announcements.

Cazarez described Zamorano as a model scholar. Inducted into Cum Laude this year, she is on the Kimbell Art Museum Team Council, where she helps create, promote and facilitate teen programs at the museum; tutors in the Breakthrough Fort Worth program; serves as an FWCD Admission Ambassador, giving tours to prospective families, and a Link Leader to ninth graders; is a Brain Buddy to fourth graders, teaching them about brain health; and was one of only a few female students to be part of the School’s inaugural Solar Car Team, helping to build a car powered by solar energy that could drive from Fort Worth to California in July 2023. Zamorano has a passion for writing: She has taken the Journalism/Newspaper class throughout Upper School, and she recently helped bring to life a retired FWCD Publication, Prism.

When asked to summarize Zamorano as a model Citizen in the Citizen Scholar Book Award application, Casarez said, “Most immediately, I am reminded of FWCD’s core values. Carolina models every single one. She is a role model at FWCD and in the greater Fort Worth community as she embraces and shares her love for people, the arts, writing and STEM.”
