Nine seniors were named National Merit Commended Students in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. Gracie Cross, Gage Fowlkes, Liz Hazelton, Xixi Hillman, Kendall Lehman, Nick Pakis, Sebastian Salazar, Vie Walker, and Gavin Zoota were among the 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation who are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. With FWCD’s three National Merit Semifinalists, the School boasts 12 students in total recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Twelve is the largest number of recognized FWCD students since 2018.

Although these nine students will not continue in the 2022 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2022 competition by taking the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
