FWCD’s Upper School students are bringing their talents to the broader community, taking on leadership roles in youth boards that champion arts, culture, and international understanding across North Texas.

Sophia Jiang ’26 is involved with two prominent arts organizations. As a member of the 2024-25 Slaughter Family Arts Awards (SFAA) Student Board, Sophia helps promote arts awareness and opportunities among her peers, supports the annual awards ceremony, and provides input on the organization’s future initiatives. Her commitment extends to the Kimbell Teen Council, where she collaborates with museum staff to create programs that connect young people with art. In addition to advising on museum initiatives, the council participates in cultural events like the Day of the Dead parade, building a bridge between teens and the vibrant North Texas arts scene.

In the international relations realm, three FWCD students hold leadership roles on the 2024-25 Fort Worth Sister Cities International Youth Board. Nara Acuña Guba ’25 serves as President, Gigi Helling ’26 as Vice President of Programs, and Sean Hong ’27 as Secretary. These students are deeply involved in organizing city-wide events that celebrate cultural exchange, leading meetings, and fostering connections with students from across the globe through exchange programs and hosting opportunities.

Their collective work exemplifies the power of youth leadership, bringing creativity, cultural understanding, and collaboration to the wider Fort Worth community.
