FWCD’s Parent Faculty Association awarded Shannon Kelly Wallace ‘97 and Karen Flynn with the Falcon Wings honor. Shannon and Karen are the Chairs of the FWCD Forever Plaid Resale Shop. Falcon Wings recognize PFA volunteers, FWCD teachers or staff who soar above and beyond the call of duty to enhance PFA programs or events, or have improved the greater FWCD community by their dedication and enthusiasm. A book will be donated to the library in their honor.

FWCD’s Forever Plaid Resale Shop has always been so important to the Falcon community. Some would say it is indispensable. Shannon and Karen had a new vision for the resale shop, determining that it needed a new look and new home. They found a location for used uniforms -- a locker room in the Patton Field House. They then proceeded to move the shop, but not without first washing and repairing every item.

As a result of their endeavors, the recent Forever Plaid Used Uniform Sale raised more money for the PFA in one sale than is normally raised in one year! These proceeds will further the PFA’s commitment to purchasing vitally needed equipment for teachers and their classrooms.

Shannon was honored with a book dedicated to the Lower School Library. The book is What We'll Build by Oliver Jeffers. Karen was honored with a book dedicated to the Moncrief Library. The book is The Chance to Fly by Tony Award Winner Ali Stroker.

Congratulations to FWCD’s September 2021 Falcon Wings recipients.
