Seven seniors were named National Merit Commended Students in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. Lucas Callahan, Chappell Carter, Jordan Jones, Janie Lee, Jason Pham, Alex Seiden and Carolina Zamorano Beyart were among the 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation who are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. With FWCD’s two National Merit Semifinalists, Aero McCormack and Charles Portwood, the School boasts nine students in total recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Although these seven students will not continue in the 2025 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2025 competition by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

“It is a privilege to recognize FWCD’s National Merit-recognized students annually,” said Kristin Larsen, Director of College Counseling. “Not only do our seniors consistently earn PSAT scores that garner them national recognition, but they also epitomize the School’s core value of scholarship.”
