Brian Farda, Upper School History Teacher, Head Varsity Football Coach/Football Program Director shared with FWCD football families that the 2020-21 academic year, his 17th year at FWCD, will be his last. “Along with teaching, the opportunity to coach at FWCD has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life,” Farda said. “I will truly treasure my time here and the many friendships made along the way at this great school. I depart FWCD to pursue other opportunities in football coaching and athletic administration.”

Farda is well-known at FWCD, having served as a football and track and field coach and teacher from 2003-17. He turned to FWCD as Head Coach and History Teacher from 2018-21 after a yearlong foray as a catastrophic claims insurance adjuster. Farda led the Falcons to back-to-back Southwest Preparatory Conference 3A football championship titles in 2018 and 2019. He also held the James S. Garvey Chair for Distinguished History Teaching, served as the K-12 History Department Chair, and was an Honor Council Advisor.

Incoming Athletic Director Leigh Block has already begun the search for FWCD's next Head Varsity Football Coach/Football Program Director. His search team includes long-term FWCD faculty and football coaching staff members Bill Arnold ’86, Colin Douglas ’06, Shane Jenke and James Rains. The job is posted on the FWCD website and in other football coaching venues.

“Over the course of Brian’s FWCD 17-year tenure, he has focused on relationship building -- with students, parents and colleagues,” said Head of School Eric Lombardi. “Brian has been an innovator on the field and in the classroom. Our Falcons have certainly benefited from his extensive football and academic expertise. The good program that Coach Farda is leaving behind is attracting very impressive candidates, some of whom we have already brought to campus despite the icy roads.”

Farda will continue in his teaching and coaching roles at FWCD through the end of the 2020-21 academic year.
