Several track and field athletes competed at the highest levels this summer with great success, here are a few...

Senior Rachel Nelson competed over the spring and summer with her club team, the North Texas Jackrabbits, culminating with  the 2022 USA Track & Field National Junior Olympics in Sacramento.   Rachel qualified nationally in the 200m, 400m, 4x100 relay, and 4x400 relay. She finished top 20 in Women’s 17-18 200m dash and helped her relays capture the bronze medal in both the 4x100 and 4x400.  Rachel was presented with medals on the podium by 5 time Olympic medalist Justin Gatlin.

Fresh off one the finest seasons in FWCD track and field history (she set records in shot put and discus), Senior Sutton Howard competed in the USATF Junior Olympics in Sacramento this summer.  She finished 11th in the hammer throw and 6th overall. She achieved a distance of 39'11, a performance that earned her All-American status.
