FWCD had a great showing at the Winter SPC Championships on February 9-11. At the end of the weekend, the Falcons had two SPC Champions and three SPC runners-up. 

Varsity girls soccer has an excellent tournament and was SPC runner-up, finishing 2-1 in the tournament.  The Falcons beat The Awty International School and The John Cooper School but fell to Trinity Valley School in the championship game. Finleigh Ashburn ’25 scored five  goals to lead all scorers in the tournament. The team was 8-6 on the year.

Varsity boys soccer had a great tournament, defeating Trinity Valley, losing to eventual champion Cistercian Preparatory School, and narrowly losing to Episcopal School of Dallas (2-1) in the consolation game.  During SPC weekend, Truman Roth ’24 scored twice, David Yun ’24 had a goal, and Luke Vincent ’26  had 2 assists. The Falcons finished 7-10 on the year. 

Varsity boys basketball finished the year 16-13 after losing the first two games in the SPC Tournament but defeating Awty, 66-50, in the final game.

Varsity girls basketball lost to John Cooper, heartbreakingly by one point, but then defeated The Oakridge School and Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart, finishing fifth in the SPC Tournament and 11-12 overall.

The varsity wrestling team was fourth overall in the SPC Tournament, which included a first-place finish for Joseph Brunson ’25 in his weight class. Luke Tierce ’24, Jake Lauderdale ’23 finished second; Rising Huckaby ’24, Alex Parsons ’26, Jackson Grace ’23 and Chappell Carter ’25 finished third in their weight classes, and Jayda Fulp ’25 finished fourth. 

Swimming had a terrific SPC meet (the girls finished 5th in 3A, and the boys were 4th). Highlights include Christopher Baker ’23 winning the 100 Free and finishing third in the 100 Backstroke; Belle Xu ’24 finishing fourth in the 200 IM;  Murphy Hoefer ’25 finishing 6th in the 200 Free; Courtney Comeaux ’26 finishing fifth in the 100 Backstroke.
